The game is split into three sections, each of which has a different gameplay style. Players control Harry Potter as he explores Hogwarts, solves puzzles and battles enemies. The Chamber of Secrets video game is a point-and-click adventure game, which uses a third-person perspective. Harry must discover the identity of the person responsible for releasing the Basilisk, and stop them before they can do any more harm. Shortly after arriving, Harry and Ron discover a secret chamber within the school, which leads to the release of a deadly creature known as the Basilisk.
The storyline of the game follows that of the novel, with Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their second year. The game received generally positive reviews, with an aggregated score of 80% on GameRankings. It is based on the second novel in the Harry Potter series, and was the first in the series to be released on the PC. The Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets video game was released in 2002 by Electronic Arts.
